The Al Qudra Cycle Track is a ribbon of tarmac laid across the open desert south of the city. Its main loop is 80.6km without a junction, which the Guinness World Records lists as the longest continuous cycling path in the world, and shorter tracks branch off it to make a network of about 135km.
It is open to anyone with a bike and has no entry charge. Those without a bike can hire one at the start, near Last Exit Al Qudra, but only between 5am and midday, so this is a morning plan.

The main loop, open access
The Al Qudra Cycle Track
A continuous loop through open desert, with emergency call points, shaded seating and toilets along the way. First Ride describes it as popular with road cyclists, hybrid riders and families, and the shorter tracks off the main loop make it easy to turn back early.

How to ride it
Start before 6am and turn back by 9am, when the heat builds. That timing is our advice rather than an official one, because the track runs through open desert. Carry two bottles, and fit front and rear lights if setting off in the dark.
Oryx are sometimes seen beside the track, so keep to the path and give them room. The photograph of the oryx on this page was taken on the track in May 2023.
Hire in practice
The four hours run from the start time chosen at booking, and the bike must be back by 12 noon, so a 5am start gives a full four hours and a 9am start only three. First Ride's own page puts the track at about 86km in total; the RTA's Guinness figure of 80.6km is for the continuous main loop.
