Dubai edition

This weekend: Fri 30 Oct to Sun 1 Nov

Where to go out in Dubai.
Checked before we post.

About

A guide for people who’d rather be out.

Offscreen is a weekly guide to going out in Dubai, for people who would rather book one good table than scroll past fifty.

Every place we recommend comes with the same five facts: where it is, when it’s open, what it costs, how to get in and who it suits. We take them from the venue’s own website, menu or booking page, note the day we checked, and correct the post when something changes.

What we cover

Coffee and pastry in the morning, a table for lunch at midday, and what’s on in the evening, every day on @offscreen.dxb. On Friday morning the weekend guide goes out by email.

Who reads it

People who have lived here long enough to be bored of the obvious. Families in Jumeirah and Dubai Hills, couples in DIFC and Downtown, and the designers and founders who keep ending up in Al Quoz.

How we choose

Chef-led over concept-led, and rooms someone designed on purpose. Nobody pays to be in a guide, and no venue sees a post before it goes out. The full rules, and what we leave out on purpose, are in How we pick.

Photos

Every photo shows the actual place, with its owner named underneath. Usually that’s the venue itself. If a photo is yours and you’d like it changed or taken down, write to [email protected] and it will be done the same day.

Next cities

Lisbon, New York, Los Angeles, Mallorca and Munich, with the same rules and a colour of their own. Join the list for yours and we’ll write the day it opens.

The Friday email

The weekend, decided by Friday.

It lands at 7:30am on Friday. Four plans for the weekend and one to book before it goes, each with the price and how to get in. The free guides come with the welcome email.
