Mokha 1450 takes its name from Yemen's old coffee port, and the shelf behind its bar reads like a map of where coffee grows. Yemeni Sabree is AED 171 for 250g, the lowest price on the shelf this week. Colombia Geisha is AED 228, and Colombia Red Bourbon AED 400.

There are five Mokha 1450 rooms in Dubai, two of them on the Palm, one at Emirates Towers and one in Al Barsha. The coffee boutique at 365 Al Wasl Road is the one to sit in.

Hours and prices change. Check with the venue before you go.

What to order

A hand brew of whichever single origin was opened last. Ask, and the team will talk through the farm it came from. The cups arrive on engraved trays, which is half the pleasure of sitting in rather than taking it away.

When to go

Early, for a seat at the bar. Mokha doesn't publish its hours, so call the boutique on +971 4 321 6455 before a special trip. Cup prices are on the menu at the bar rather than online.

Taking it further

Workshops and tastings are booked through mokha1450.com. For beans to take home, the Yemeni Sabree is the bag the name points to.
