Cremeria Opera began in Tuscany in 2013, and its founder, the gelato maker Mirko Tognetti, still writes every recipe. In Dubai the gelato is made daily from fresh milk, cream and fruit, with no artificial flavours, colouring or preservatives, the shop says.

There are two counters. The first is a café in Business Bay, with crêpes, waffles and cakes. The newer one is a kiosk at Golden Mile Galleria on the Palm, and that is the one for a tub to take home.

Hours and prices change. Check with the venue before you go.

How to use it

Think of it as the dessert course for a dinner at home. Collect a 750g tub on the way back, put it in the freezer, and pudding is settled before the first guest arrives.

For eating on the spot, a gelato bar on a stick is AED 18 and a gelato cookie AED 22. The kiosk also makes espresso and cappuccino from Italian-roasted coffee.

Dairy-free, and delivered

Two of the one-kilo tubs are vegan and lactose-free, one of them fruit-based, at the same AED 195. Tubs can be ordered on cremeriaopera.ae, and the shop delivers across Dubai through Deliveroo, Talabat and Careem.
